Sharon is 41 years old and grew up as a farm girl in the rural Sylacauga, Alabama area. She has two daughters 17 and 19 years old who are living with family. Sharon is both physically and mentally disabled. In addition to having a back injury, Sharon suffers from bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia. Many years ago she began trying to escape the symptoms of her mental illness by using drugs and developed an addiction which she is fighting to overcome. Over her last two years of homelessness she has lived many different places on the street, including the damp underground tunnels of downtown Birmingham and the camp she currently shares with two other people. Sharon says she used to blame all her problems on God, but now has a strong faith and is thankful for the blessings in her life. She asks that you pray she will be able to get an apartment with utilities and that she will be able to contact her children. She also asks you to pray she will find relief from the chronic nightmares she suffers from each night.
